Do you remember the beautiful Aurora, the kind and gentle princess who later becomes Sleeping Beauty? If you don't but your daughter does, it could be time to do some research. Fortunately, Aurora is probably the easiest of all the Disney princesses to work with - she just sleeps, after all. Ask all guests to dress as either a prince or a princess and when they arrive at the party, hand the girls a plastic tiara and the boys a plastic sword, say experts at DisneyFamily.com. If you're having your event in the summer time and the weather is fine, decorate your garden as well as your front room. Hang green and yellow streams from the tree boughs and encourage guests to pick as many pretty flowers as they can - just like Aurora does in the Disney film. Why not wrap up your party with a game of sleeping princesses? It works just like sleeping lions, except for the fact that it's the princesses who sleep and the princes who try to wake them up by making them laugh so much that they move.
Ariel, The Little Mermaid:
If your little girl can't get enough of Ariel, the flame haired princess of the sea, perhaps you should consider throwing her a Little Mermaid themed party. Admittedly, Ariel is one of the trickier princesses to master because she does live underwater and she does have a tail. If your event is less of a party and more of a garden picnic or a sleepover - by all means, go wild and have a mermaid tail making session. Get out the tubs of glitter glue and the shiny fabrics and let each guest have a go at making their own Little Mermaid themed costume. This is probably only going to work, however, if there's no more than three or four girl guests at your event. Any more and you'll have glitter glue all up the walls and your house will be full of hopping kids in fish outfits - hardly conducive to making sure that the cake comes out of the oven at the right time and that everybody stays safe and sound. Don't be afraid to get a little wet, though. Why not decorate your garden with colourful streamers and buy a couple of inexpensive paddling pools for your guests to splash around in?
Cinderella, Cinderella:
Once again, make sure that all of your guests dress up as either a prince or a princess. It's up to you whether or not you issue them with a sword or a tiara this time. Decorate the party room with carved pumpkins and then scatter white and pink sugar mice about all four corners, says Spoonful.com. If you have the time, design and create a big clock face out of paper or card. Use a drawing pin to attach movable hands and slowly bring these hands closer to twelve as the party progresses. At 'twelve o'clock' the first guest to take off their shoes, get a cushion, and sit cross legged on the floor gets to come up and help you tell the story of Cinderella. Recite it from memory or read it from a storybook - it's up to you. Make sure that it's dramatic, though.
